Richard Small is a practicing defense attorney who defended dentists exclusively for 20 years before becoming an insurance agent for dentists. He presented risk management courses to dentists during and after he stopped trying cases but continues to track dental claims. He helps clients deal with problem patients and potential claims before they occur. Mr. Small teaches courses at dental schools and dental specialty residencies. He is one of the risk management presenters for Fortress Insurance.
Mr. Small designs custom risk management courses for dental schools, dental associations, lunch and learn environments, study clubs and other dental groups.

Mr. Small volunteers as a participant on the Michigan Dental Association's Access to Care Committee, and the dental specialty work group as well as serving on the AAOMS State Advocate's Committee.
